I rather be a dog in peaceful times;popular Chinese curse", I do not recall having heard that; is often referred to as a ", then live as a man (woman) in turbulent times;may you live in interesting times". (I added this one in after learning that the expression "; has become very popular.)
Although the expression "may you live in interesting times"
